We stand behind every piece we create. Our Care & Repair service is available to all Maison Granada clients — whether your piece was purchased last month or inherited decades ago. Our master jewellers in Madrid restore, resize, re-polish, and re-set with the same precision as the original creation.
Care Guide
Caring for Your Jewellery
Daily Wear
- Remove jewellery before swimming, bathing, or exercising — chlorine and salt water can damage metals and loosen settings.
- Apply perfume, hairspray, and cosmetics before putting on jewellery. Chemicals in these products can dull surfaces and affect gemstone clarity.
- Remove rings when working with your hands — gardening, cooking, and cleaning can scratch gold and chip stones.
- Put jewellery on last when dressing and take it off first when undressing.
Cleaning at Home
- Clean gold jewellery with a soft brush, warm water, and a drop of mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
- For diamonds, a brief soak in warm soapy water followed by gentle brushing restores brilliance. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners for pieces with pavé settings.
- Clean pearls with a damp cloth only — never submerge them in water or use soap, as this can damage the nacre.
- Avoid abrasive cloths or toothpaste, which can scratch polished metal surfaces.
Storage
- Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or the original Maison Granada box to prevent scratching.
- Keep jewellery away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, which can affect certain gemstones and cause metal fatigue.
- Store necklaces and bracelets unclasped to prevent tangling and stress on clasps.
- Pearls and opals require slight humidity — avoid storing them in airtight containers for extended periods.
Our Repair Services
Ring Resizing
We resize rings up or down by up to three sizes. Complex designs with pavé settings or full eternity bands may require additional time. Resizing is performed by the same craftspeople who made your piece.
Re-polishing & Refinishing
Restore the original lustre of your piece with a professional polish. We can also convert a polished finish to a brushed or satin finish on request.
Prong Re-tipping & Re-setting
Worn prongs are the most common cause of stone loss. We inspect, re-tip, and re-set stones to ensure they are secure. We recommend a prong inspection every two years.
Clasp & Chain Repair
We repair and replace broken clasps, jump rings, and chain links. Where a chain is beyond repair, we can replace it with a matching style.
Rhodium Plating
White gold naturally yellows over time as the rhodium plating wears. We re-plate white gold pieces to restore their bright white finish.
Full Restoration
For heirloom pieces or significant damage, we offer a full restoration service — disassembly, cleaning, repair, re-setting, and refinishing. A detailed assessment and quote is provided before work begins.
How to Send Your Piece
Contact Us
Email us at care@maisongranada.com with photographs of your piece and a description of the repair needed. We will respond within two business days with an assessment and quote.
Secure Shipping
Once you approve the quote, we send you a prepaid, fully insured shipping label. Pack your piece in its original box or a padded envelope and drop it at any courier point.
Repair & Updates
Your piece is repaired by our Madrid team. We send you a progress update when work begins and a photograph upon completion.
Return Delivery
Your restored piece is returned fully insured, in fresh Maison Granada packaging, with a repair report detailing all work carried out.
Our Warranty
Every Maison Granada piece carries a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects. This covers structural faults, setting failures, and clasp malfunctions under normal wear. It does not cover accidental damage, loss, or wear resulting from improper care. Warranty repairs are carried out free of charge.
